Genevieve's Updates

In an atttempt to keep up with technology and to try and keep all of my friends and family up to date with my far flung adventures (and occasionally snips of mundane life) I decided to build a blog spot for easier access. I hope that you all enjoy!

Public Holiday Season!

Wow, April is a busy month here in South Africa for us. For some reason, the powers that be have made April the month of public holidays and Terry and I have been adament that we take full advantage of each of these gifts from the state (plus throwing in a few of our own of course). Our travel schedule really has been a bit hectic but absolutely fabulous so far and we are only half way through our list so far! Below is my April outlook calendar, all the dates in bold are holidays and days that are booked for vacation!

Our holiday season started on April fool's day (how apt!) with a trip to the Midlands for the wedding of our friends Lianna and Trevor. Imagine a little hunk of Bavaria plopped down into the middle of South Africa and you can pretty much envision the setting. Lots of cows and sheep, rolling hills, meandering streams, and lots of sausage. We had a wonderful time at the wedding with all of our friends who were also in attendance and believe it or not Terry actually got a little drunk and proceeded to photograph himself with all of the guests in a lovely red scarf he borrowed from Eleni (so bewarned if you look at the link for more pics). It was a fantastic weekend and a great chance for Terry and I to explore a new section of South Africa.

Oh and we musn't forget the beautiful fields of cosmos that bloomed everywhere along the road to the Midlands. (More Midlands Pictures)

All the best,
Genevieve
